This is some iconic stuff, ladies and gentlemen.

A 16-year-old kid placed himself on the radar Wednesday for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles after he broke the record of the legendary Michael Phelps at the 2025 U.S. Swimming Championships.

And yes, I’m talking about the same Michael Phelps who won 23 Olympic gold medals (28 total) for the United States, per Fox News.  (RELATED: US Open Produces One Of Coolest Stories You’ll Read All Week)

Meet Luka Mijatovic, a 16-year-old who snatched away a record from Phelps after he tallied a time of 1:45.92 in a 200-meter freestyle race. And to make it even crazier, Mijatovic didn’t just land the record for the 15-16 age group, which was originally 1:47.29, but he also grabbed the record for the 17-18 age group that Phelps once held.

Phelps’ time was at 1:45.99, with Mijatovic narrowly breaking the record during his last lap.

It’s always a fresh breath of air for me when I see teenagers doing big stuff. Usually, the only stories we hear about from this age group are drugs, gangs and how bad their grades are in public schools, which is one of the reasons why I homeschool my kids.

It’s like my five-year-old, for example. She hasn’t even officially started school yet and is already reading 2nd grade-level books. Hell, my three-year-old already knows a bundle of sight words. My expectations for my girls are high.

So when I see a kid like Luka Mijatovic … yeah, man … I can’t help but to crack a smile. Shoutout to his parents for being on their game.
