Police reportedly arrested New England Patriots team captain Jabrill Peppers on multiple charges Saturday after an alleged altercation at a home in Boston.
Police said they responded to a disturbance call in Braintree, Massachusetts, early Saturday after a caller said two people had been involved in an altercation, according to CBS News. A female victim alleges that Peppers hit and choked her multiple times before pushing her down the stairs, according to CBS News. Initial reports indicate the alleged victim was treated on scene. Police charged Peppers with assault and battery on an intimate partner, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and possession of a Class B drug, which police believe was cocaine, according to CBS News.
Police announced Peppers’ arrest Monday after he was arraigned in Quincy District Court.
The alleged victim said the dramatic incident unfolded at roughly 4:00 a.m.
The outlet reported that the athlete pleaded not guilty Monday and a hearing was scheduled in court for Nov. 22. Peppers has already waived his right to appear in court that day.
Peppers, who plays safety for the Patriots, agreed to have no contact with the alleged victim in the case and was released after he posted $2,500 bail, according to CBS News.
“Judge, despite the fact that this is the case where there is evidence I have already seen that sheds real doubt on the allegations, including videotaped evidence, my client will not object to that condition and he’ll agree to the same thing,” Peppers’ attorney said, according to CBS News.
