Charania confirmed the news after Front Office Sports’ Michael McCarthy put out a report Monday that the former Stadium employee and four-letter network were engaged in “preliminary” negotiations on a deal following the retirement of Adrian Wojnarowski.

Back in September, Wojnarowski made the announcement that he was exiting ESPN and moving on to his alma mater St. Bonaventure University to become the general manager of their basketball program.
According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Woj left a whopping $20 million on the table when he decided to exit ESPN.

I’m curious to know how much Shams got paid for this deal, because you know he landed a big bag with how desperate ESPN most likely was to bring him in to replace Woj. After all, you can’t call yourself “the worldwide leader in sports” when a competitor has a better insider than you, which is exactly why the four-letter network stole him away.
