We haven’t heard much from Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis lately, but hurricane season always gives him a chance to shine.
DeSantis is a no-nonsense kind of guy when it comes to emergency response. He bucked the consensus during COVID and streamlined hurricane response in a way no longer thought possible in government. Staying focused under pressure was always his claim to fame.
So it’s no surprise that he doesn’t have time for Vice President Kamala Harris’ political games as Category 5 Hurricane Milton barrels toward his state.
DeSantis Calls Kamala’s Comments About Him ‘Delusional’
🚨WOW: Gov. DeSantis NUKES Kamala after she FREAKED today & attacked him for ignoring her phone calls:
“She’s delusional. She has no role here. She’s been VP for 3 years and never contributed anything to these storm efforts. She politicizing the storm to save a failing campaign” pic.twitter.com/GZQ5gGSThI

The corporate media are clutching their collective pearls at the news of DeSantis reportedly refusing to meet with Harris before the hurricane makes landfall. A DeSantis aide told NBC News that “Kamala was trying to reach out, and we didn’t answer” because it “seemed political.” (RELATED: Former Clinton Adviser ‘Speechless’ About Harris And Biden’s ‘Cavalier Indifference’ To Hurricane)
DeSantis himself, however, denied refusing the call in the way the media characterized it. “I didn’t know that she had called,” he said in a Monday press conference.
Yet it was still a good call by his staff. Why should DeSantis take time out of his busy schedule simply to give Harris ammo for a bubbly press release about her reaching across the aisle? Remember, she’s not the president. She’s still just the VP, a symbolic job with very few real responsibilities. There’s nothing Harris can offer him at this moment to improve the situation in Florida.
DeSantis already spoke with President Joe Biden about hurricane recovery, still the most important person in the administration for the next few months. That’s the real story here, the real bipartisan move. So I guess we should all just be thankful that Biden is still capable of picking up a phone.
