A swarm of people reportedly surrounded Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler and his wife McKenzie Marcinek at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California, and robbed the athlete of his watch.

A large group of people swarmed the pair and someone from that crowd allegedly approached Buehler and unbuttoned the sleeve of his shirt, ABC7 News reported Wednesday. They proceeded to take his expensive watch right off his hand and the athlete did not notice at the time. Initial reports suggested the watch was worth upwards of $100,000. The make and model of the timepiece have not been publicly shared.

Field Level Media issued a statement on behalf of Buehler’s agent and confirmed some details surrounding this incident.

“Following Walker’s final regular season start on September 27th, he and a number of other players did not travel to Colorado for the final regular season series. That weekend, Walker and his wife McKenzie, were attending horse races at Santa Anita Park,” the statement reads, according to Sports Illustrated (SI). “While walking from the (paddock) to their seats, Walker was unknowingly the victim of a snatch and grab robbery of his watch.”

“The incident was reported to police and is currently under investigation. We are grateful Walker and McKenzie were not harmed and Walker is focused on the playoffs,” the statement continues, according to SI.
