Former President Donald Trump visited a McDonald’s store Sunday in Pennsylvania, causing the left to melt down as they attempted to cope with his ability to connect with voters — something Vice President Kamala Harris has struggled to do.
Despite showing up to McDonald’s in his typical power suit with a bright red tie and French cuffs, Trump was gracious, charismatic and funny. While there, he learned how to use the fry station, helped fill orders and manned the drive-thru window as his supporters lined the block with Trump flags and MAGA gear. These moments not only humanized him but made him relatable even though he’s a New York City billionaire living in a Florida mansion.

It also highlighted the glaring reality that Harris (or her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz) would be able to achieve the same outcome. Despite Democrats’ best efforts to portray the Harris ticket as typical middle-class-loving candidates standing with struggling Americans and understanding their plight, most voters still believe Trump is the better candidate to handle issues that matter most to them, like the economy, inflation and illegal immigration. The visit to McDonald’s only made this more apparent.

Unlike Harris and Walz, who dress in flannel and high-v vests when they want to look like hunters, t-shirts and chucks when they want to look casual and change their accents depending on the audience demographics, Trump wears his suit. He doesn’t pretend to come from the middle class by cosplaying as one of them. Instead, his suit tells voters he’s very well aware that he’s a billionaire who’s part of the elite class but, unlike the pretenders, he’s here to help. Democrats and their friends in corporate media went into overdrive after the event, claiming Trump was “disrespecting” fast food workers and how he was a threat to (D)emocracy. There were even reported pieces about his visit being a campaign photo-op, as if voters didn’t already know. Their anger towards Trump’s time serving french fries stems from their understanding that Harris can’t compete in this game.

Harris is known to be hard to work with. During her time in the California Attorney General’s office, her staff were reportedly required to stand at attention when she arrived and refer to her as “General.” The staff turnover rate skyrocketed when she became vice president, even among employees of color. She seems like your typical “boss babe” who gets high off her power supply and ability to control others. This isn’t a good place to start if you want to convey compassion and empathy to voters crushed by your administration’s policies. Former President Barack Obama and even President Joe Biden (despite how terrible their policies were for Americans) were still able to conduct the same type of retail politics that Trump does so effortlessly. Democrats look at Harris, realizing that her anxious cackle, dependency on a teleprompter and inability to connect with voters is a recipe for disaster, so they lash out at Trump. Their defense mechanism exposes Harris as an out-of-touch political elite that, without abortion, would have zero chance of winning in November.

It scares them because although Trump is unabashedly wealthy, he has always been able to interact respectfully and even playfully with his employees. He has taken this talent with him on the campaign trail, and it works. Voters want the billionaire to fight with them in the trenches; not the “girl boss” HR rep Harris comes off as. As a candidate, if your weakest attribute is policy, then there is something that can be done to fix that. However, there is nothing that can be done about a terrible personality.
