Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a two-year reduction in immigration into Canada on Thursday.
Although Trudeau’s message delicately hinted at the devastating problems that stem from unfettered immigration, it was a stronger message than any we have seen from President Joe Biden or Kamala Harris, both of whom spent nearly their entire time in the Oval Office gaslighting Americans about our own border crisis.
“We’re going to significantly reduce the number of immigrants coming to Canada for the next two years. This is temporary — to pause our population growth and let our economy catch up. We have to get the system working right for all Canadians,” he wrote on Twitter.
As part of the plan, the Canadian government will steadily cut the number of new permanent residents over the next few years, from 485,000 in 2024 to 365,000 by 2027, according to Reuters. Temporary residents will also decline by 30,000.
What is Harris’s latest take on immigration? During a rehab trip to the southern border to make her appear tougher on immigration, Harris offered a far weaker message than her limp-wristed neighbor up North.
“I reject the false choice that suggests we must choose either between securing our border and creating a system that is orderly, safe and humane,” Harris said in late September. “We can and we must do both.”
The vice president, of course, makes no mention of the negative effects of mass immigration, the most notable one being the suppression of wages for native workers. Harris and the rest of the political class, including many Republicans, wouldn’t dare bring up how flooding your country will cheap, unskilled labor benefits corporations while screwing over the little guy who’s a tax-paying citizen. Most of them, at least those who are bought over by corporations and their legions of lobbyists, are fine with the current arrangement, and only talk a big game about fixing the immigration system to win over voters during election years.
