Federal agents reportedly arrested rapper Lil Durk in Florida on Thursday, charging him with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire.
U.S. Marshals took Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, into custody and booked him into the Broward County Jail, according to Fox 13 News. Police claim Lil Durk contracted others to kill rapper Quando Rando in Los Angeles to avenge the 2020 slaying of his rival artist King Von. An indictment named five others in connection with this alleged murder-for-hire plot, according to The Chicago Tribune.
Authorities have yet to release details on Lil Durk’s arrest. Durk’s lawyers, Brian Bieber and Alek Ubieta, confirmed the hip hop star was arrested and taken into custody, according to TMZ. They said Lil Durk is expected to appear in federal court in Miami, Florida.
Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey and Asa Houston have also been arrested in relation to this case, according to The Chicago Tribune.
The accused face several charges, including conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire involving a death and use of a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death. The charges can result in the death penalty if convicted, according to The Chicago Tribune.
The indictment unsealed Thursday in Los Angeles court alleges that the five accused individuals have ties to a collective founded by Lil Durk, called “Only the Family,” also known as OTF. Lil Durk is a 32-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist from Chicago who is respected in the hip hop music scene. He has collaborated with several Memphis rappers, including Yo Gotti, Key Glock and the late Young Dolph.
