Olivia Rodrigo said she was interrogated by Border Patrol officers for thirty minutes in a frightening case of mistaken identity.

Rodrigo appeared on Tuesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show” and told host Jimmy Fallon that she had a “panic attack” when she was mistaken for a criminal. The 21-year-old singer detailed the experience after getting “in trouble with the law for the first time”  while on her “Guts World Tour.” She reenacted how she felt at the time, with a petrified look on her face as she recalled the scare.

Rodrigo also explained the circumstances that led to the interrogation.

“We were going from Canada to, like, Portland or something,” she told Fallon.

“We were at border control, I give them my passport, and they’re like, ‘OK, whatever,’” she said.

Everything seemed to be going according to plan until the border patrol officers came looking for her.

“And they knock on the door [of the tour bus] and they’re like, ‘We need Olivia,’” they said.

Rodrigo said she figured one of the officers just wanted an autograph from her, but the famous singer quickly realized they had come for a very different reason.

She said she was taken into an interrogation room where there was a “big cop” with a “gun.”

“It’s 3:00 a.m. and I’m delirious,” she told Fallon.

“He’s like, ‘Have you ever been arrested?’ I’m, like, ‘No, I haven’t been arrested.’ He’s like, ‘Are you sure?’ I’m like gaslighting [myself]. I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, maybe I was, like, arrested and I didn’t know it,’” Rodrigo said, as she explained her panicked state of self-doubt.

The star said an officer warned her that she could go to jail for lying to a federal agent and she recalled feeling “so scared” and having a “panic attack.”

Rodrigo said she was interrogated for a half of an hour before the officer looked at her closely and asked her to verify her name again.

“And I go, ‘Olivia Rodrigo. R-O-D-R-I-G-O.’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, there’s a girl who looks just like you, that’s your same age, that’s been arrested multiple times, and her name is Olivia Rodriguez,’” she said. (RELATED: Olivia Rodrigo Falls Through Stage Floor In Shocking On-Stage Moment)
