Former President Donald Trump dismissed a shock poll showing Vice President Kamala Harris in the lead in Iowa as “fake.”

A Saturday Selzer poll took the political world by storm after showing Harris leading Trump by three points, contradicting every other reputable poll taken in the deep red state.

Speaking with NBC News, Trump called the poll “fake,” and derided the pollster as “a Trump-hater.”

In the same phone call with the outlet, the former president appealed to women voters.

“You’re voting for the wrong person and will end up in a depression … you will not be safe,” Trump argued.

According to a Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll, Harris leads Trump 47% to 44%, with a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points. The poll, which surveyed 808 likely Iowa voters and included those who have already voted as well as those who say they definitely plan to vote, was conducted by Selzer & Co. from Oct. 28-31.

The results of the poll aren’t reflected in any other recent Iowa polls. Trump’s campaign soothed concerns in a memo, citing a recent Emerson poll showing Trump ahead by 10 percentage points.

“To their credit, the Emerson College poll has an R+4 party split (below 2020 exit polls at R+10), and a Trump +8 recalled 2020 vote margin that aligns with reported returns,” chief Trump pollster Tony Fabrizio said. “Emerson shows Trump ahead of Harris 53-43 in their survey.”
