Keanu Reeves admitted that he puked after doing some of his own stunts on the set of the “John Wick” movie franchise.
The famous actor spoke at a Nov. 3 panel discussion for a special 10th-anniversary screening of the action movie at the AMC Century City in Los Angeles, and seemed unphased as he recalled being ill. Moderator Grae Drake asked Reeves how far he had to push himself while playing the titular hitman who gets revenge on the Russian mobsters that killed his dog.
“I had so many wonderful teachers and guidance and worked with so many talented actors, actresses and stunt people in the sense of it’s such a dance and collaboration and cooperation,” Reeves said.
“So there’s a couple of times where you throw up or puke or whatever, but that’s what makes it good!”
Reeves, who is known to do his own stunt work, referred to his on-set experience as being a “gift,” in spite of the physical toll it took on his body.
“And nobody’s ever looked at a pencil the same way again, right?” Drake asked Reeves.
“You shouldn’t,” the actor replied. “They work.”
The panel of experts included Reeves’ costar Ian McShane, director Chad Stahelski and producer Erica Lee.
McShane addressed the actor’s willingness and ability to push himself to the limits for the sake of a role, and praised his tenacity.
“He pushes the envelope all the time,” McShane said.
“So when your leading actor says, ‘We’d like do another one,’ and it’s raining for the seventh day in a row outside … and you’re standing there, whatever. And you go, ‘Well, Keanu’s doing it. Here we are. Here we go,’” he said. (RELATED: Eva Longoria Secretly Saved ‘John Wick’ Franchise With One Bold Move)
