Beyoncé is so desperate for attention that she transformed into one of America’s most famous white women in a shameful video that strayed way too far from her lane.
The famous singer attempted to transform into Pamela Anderson by posing in some of her most iconic outfits, in a music video designed to encourage Americans to get out and vote. It played out like a horrible identity-crisis. In true Beyoncé style, the talentless wanna-be tried to piggy-back on Anderson’s “Baywatch” fame by calling her music video “Beywatch.” This is one of the most self-absorbed epic fails of all-time, and did nothing but highlight the washed-up singer’s desperate attempt to clamor into the spotlight.
The new visuals for the “Cowboy Carter” anthem “Bodyguard” featured Beyonce in the iconic red swimsuit that catapulted Anderson to fame. At one point, Beyonce stood in front of a blue screen and jogged on the spot as she tried to mimic Anderson’s run across the sand in one of the most cringey clips I’ve ever seen. Apparently she doesn’t have a creative bone in her body so she tried to embody the success of another woman.
She spent the majority of the video dressed in a plunging black dress and knee-high boots with arm-length gloves that most fans will recognize as Anderson’s infamous outfit in “Bar Wire.” Beyonce took a stab at being seductive as she fired off a prop gun that popped out the word “vote” on a flag. I’m going to put this out there because it needs to be said … she knows she’s black, right? The makeup on her face is clearly lightening her skin tone, and if the reverse makeup skills were used, it would be a case of blackface. So is this — whiteface? It sure seems to be …
Beyonce’s brutal downward spiral seemed never-ending in this video. She gave off more lame-vibes by copying Anderson’s 1999 MTV Video Music Awards look in a huge, fuzzy pink hat, white corset top and glitzy leggings.
She kept caressing her breasts and pouting her lips. Toward the end of the video she blew out cigarette smoke in a very unimpressive, failed attempt at channeling sex appeal.
Anderson owned those moments, and it’s part of what made her an absolute bombshell at the time. Those looks are part of Anderson’s legacy and simply can’t be recreated — especially not by Beyonce. The singer couldn’t have embarrassed herself more, and couldn’t have failed harder. (RELATED: Country Music Just Dissed Beyonce, And We’re Ok With It)
The best part of the video is the fact that it eventually ended.
