Dearborn Exposes Kamala’s Worst Failure And Trump’s Crowning Achievement

Dearborn, where over half the residents are of Middle Eastern descent, delivered for Donald Trump.

In the 2020 election, then-candidate Joe Biden smoked Trump in the Michigan city, picking up nearly 70% of the vote. In 2024, Trump smoked Kamala, with the former (and future) president winning 42.48% compared to the incumbent VP’s 36.26%. Meanwhile, third-party candidate Jill Stein tallied over 18%.

It is both a monumental failure on behalf of the Harris-Walz campaign and a triumphant achievement for Republicans to have flipped the city red. The GOP, long the party of indiscriminate bombing of Islamic countries, the party that would prefer the Middle East be turned into glass, the party of Bush, is now, at least according to these lifelong Democrats who voted for Trump, the party of peace. Democrats, on the other hand, once the party of anti-war activists and cranks who wanted to destroy the Military Industrial Complex, is now the party seemingly devoted to more war, more bombs and more death. Of course, when I say Democrats, I mean the party’s leaders and their candidate this year, Kamala Harris — there are many Democrats in the party who are as anti-war as they come, it’s just that they voted for Trump or Stein. And the same can be said of Republicans, many of whom still salivate at the idea of blowing up innocent Muslims in faraway lands: they say they are America First, but in practice, they are the same neocons who have pissed away blood and treasure over the past two decades play-acting as noble custodians of American Empire.

But still, the fact that Dearborn flipped and that former Democrats, who were not duped by the Biden-Harris administration’s hollow rhetoric of peace for Israel and Palestine, shifted so much to the Republican Party is promising for the future. It’s a testament to the unifying power of America First — that it’s not a nativist, racist and mean-spirited political movement. Rather, it’s about peace abroad and economic prosperity at home. “We have to fix our problems here in America,” Dearborn resident Nagi Almudhegi told the Detroit Free Press. “If you’re a parent, you want to take care of your family. You want to take care of your children first, before you go and take care of your neighbors and somebody overseas or abroad. It’s just logical common sense.”

“The leaders of the United States have to take care of the citizens of the United States. Why are we worried about every single problem in the world when we have so many systemic issues here in the U.S.?”
