Control of the House is still in play as both parties await dozens of races that are too close to call, with several “toss-up” contests key to whether Republicans gain a trifecta after the 2024 election.
With all 435 seats up for grabs, a party needs to secure 218 to hold the majority. Republicans have won at least 210 seats, and Democrats have won 198.
To maintain their current five-seat majority, Republicans would need to win at least 10 of the 22 seats that are considered “toss-ups,” in addition to defending the 208 seats that are rated as “likely” or “lean Republican.” Republicans have already lost three seats in New York and one in Alabama.
On the other hand, Democrats need only to have a net gain of four seats to win the majority. They have already lost six seats: three in North Carolina, two in Pennsylvania, and one in Michigan.
Below are the handful of seats that have yet to be called by the Associated Press. The Washington Examiner will update this story as winners are announced, with the victor’s name bolded.
