Even broken clocks are right twice a day and even Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is right — sometimes.
The New York congresswoman posted several videos Monday night on her Instagram addressing the outcome of the 2024 election, a shellacking for Democrats. In what appears to be a shot aimed at her own party, she argued that Americans are fed up with “fake politicians” and that a candidate pretending to support left-wing ideology only to backtrack is worse than a candidate who’s forthright on their views about, say, transgender sex changes.
“A lot of voters really don’t like fake people, and they’re sick and tired of fake politicians,” she began.

“What I actually think is worse is saying something you don’t believe. If during the entire time of the campaign season, you’re saying that you’re down with trans people or the LGBT community and then you lose an election and then the next day you say all that stuff was wrong. I actually think what people are more upset about is someone was doing something they didn’t believe in just saying something. If you actually weren’t about that life, why did you campaign as though you were?” she continued.
Ocasio-Cortez — and it pains me to type this — is spot on. Who do Americans loathe more than politicians? Politicians who come across as painfully fake. Nakedly fake. Someone exactly like Kamala Harris, replete with all the fake accents and shameless posturing, and lacking the charisma necessary to connect with common people.
Harris is like the kid in your advanced high school math class whose mom got her into the class because she didn’t have the grades. The teacher knows she shouldn’t be there. All her classmates know she shouldn’t be there. Yet, there she is, in the front row, asking yet another stupid question she should already know the answer to. I think the reason Ocasio-Cortez is so popular among young Democrats — and, again, it pains me to type this — is that, despite her obvious flaws from a conservative’s perspective, she comes across as authentic. For better or worse, usually the latter, she has zero filter. She talks like her constituents. Like Trump, she feels more real than the average politician. Kamala, on the other hand, talks like a malfunctioning HR robot with circuitry problems — it makes you cringe to listen to her, while the B.S. is so easy to detect.
Democrats should heed AOC’s advice if they want to make a comeback in 2026. Otherwise, they’ll continue to be the party utterly disconnected from the common man.
