Denzel Washington Teases New Movie Role

Legendary actor Denzel Washington casually teased an upcoming movie role that is sure to thrill his die-hard fans.

Washington spoke about his role in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II” then branched off into a conversation about his career during an interview on the Australian show “Today,” Nov. 11. Washington suggested that a special part is being created for him in the next “Black Panther,” as he detailed his plans for upcoming film roles.

The 69-year-old star admitted he doesn’t anticipate he’ll be in many more movies as his career winds down, but went on to rhyme off the plans he has for the future.

“Especially at this point in my career, I’m only interested in working with the best,” he said.

“I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make, probably not that many. I want to do things that I haven’t done.”

He reflected on his journey in Hollywood by saying, “I played Othello at 22, I’m now going to play Othello at 70.”

Washington told “Today” that he has plans for upcoming roles that are already in motion.

“After that, I’m playing Hannibal. After that, I’ve been talking with Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next ‘Black Panther,’” he said.

There had been no prior indication that development on “Black Panther 3” was in the works.

Washington continued, “After that, I’m going to do the film ‘Othello.’ After that, I’m going to do ‘King Lear.’ After that, I’m going to retire.”(RELATED: Denzel Washington Lashes Out At Fans In Awkward Exchange)

Coogler co-wrote and directed 2018’s Oscar-winning “Black Panther” as well as the 2022 sequel “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

The third installment in the franchise has not yet been announced by Marvel.
