The Tampa Bay Rays are getting done so dirty…
After Hurricane Milton blew the roof off Tropicana Field, the Tampa Bay Rays will be playing their 2025 season at Steinbrenner Field, which is the New York Yankees’ home stadium for spring training. Just down the road from Raymond James Stadium (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) in northwest Tampa, Steinbrenner Field sits 11,000 fans and is also the home for the Yanks’ Class A minor league affiliate in the Tampa Tarpons.
The Rays had looked into other facilities in Tampa that they could’ve played in, however, it was Steinbrenner Field that was the most ready for the MLB level. With that being the case, the Rays and Yankees came to an agreement where Tampa will get to play in the stadium, but it’s a stupid situation considering how much they have to pay the pinstripes to do so. And when you compare it to their current payroll.

Per an AP MLB report, the #Yankees will gain about $15M in additional revenue this coming season per their agreement to allow the #Rays to play their home games at Steinbrenner Field.
