On Tuesday, Georgia rested its case in the murder trial of Laken Riley, the 22-year-old Georgia nursing student who was allegedly brutally murdered by illegal immigrant Jose Ibarra. Prosecutors said Ibarra murdered Riley because she “refused to be his rape victim.” It was a ruthless murder that could and should have been avoided. Riley should still be alive today.
Unsurprisingly, Democrats have remained quiet during the trial. Compare this to the chaos and rage they caused after the death of career criminal George Floyd. Yet, unlike Floyd, Riley was not a criminal. Unlike Floyd, Riley was not resisting arrest when she died but instead resisting the murderous acts of an illegal immigrant Democrats allowed in the country. And, unlike Floyd, Democrats didn’t go to Emancipation Hall in the Capitol Building and kneel to pay tribute to Riley’s life and unfortunate and untimely death.
It bears repeating that it was more important to fake sadness and feign outrage over someone who died in police custody after committing a crime and resisting arrest than an innocent nursing student killed by an illegal immigrant. They decided not to pay tribute to the death of an innocent woman killed by a monster.
It was revealed that Riley fought for her life for 18 minutes before dying from the attack. She spent 18 minutes suffering from the violence caused by Ibarra. She spent 18 minutes getting brutally beaten because Democrats cared more about allowing illegal immigrants into the country than securing the border and protecting Americans. They cared more about honoring a career criminal than a young lady in college working toward a career of helping save others.
Eighteen minutes. That is how long Democrats should stay in Emancipation Hall in honor of Riley’s life.
Eighteen minutes. That is the amount of time every single Democrat who favored policies that prioritized the welfare of illegal immigrants over the safety of Americans should spend in Emancipation Hall recognizing their role in Riley’s murder.
Eighteen minutes. That is how long Democrats should kneel in Emancipation Hall for penance for Riley’s murder.
It is not a dramatization to say it is absolutely despicable that, for Riley’s death, Democrats have said and done little. A young female nursing student who was the victim of sexual violence did not resonate at all on the Democratic perpetual victimization scale of grievances. Their silence over Riley has been disturbingly deafening. It is indicative of how truly little Democrats really care about the suffering of Americans.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) gave a speech after the details of Riley’s last minutes were revealed in the trial. One can sense the anger in his voice over this tragic and senseless murder. It is a rage that all Americans should have.

“Eighteen minutes,” Emmer said. “This is how long Laken Riley fought for her life until she was ultimately murdered because of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and the Democrats’ open-borders agenda. Police found Laken with her skull bashed in by a rock and her body exposed. Yesterday, we learned that Democrats’ failed policies resulted in Laken’s alleged killer receiving a taxpayer-funded flight from New York to Georgia. This is a slap in the face to the entire Riley family.”
It sure is. And it is a slap that originated from the hands of Democrats who spent the 21st century prioritizing the welfare of people who cause harm instead of protecting those who do good. But Democrats don’t really care about people. All they care about is tragedies they can weaponize to amass political power.
