Ouch.

During the second quarter of Sunday’s contest between the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers, the latter’s tight end, Ja’Tavion Sanders, was carted off the field on a backboard after taking a scary-looking fall.

After catching a pass, Sanders was running down the right sideline when he was blasted with a low hit which flipped him out of bounds. He ended up taking an awkward fall, however, landing right on his head when coming down from the hit. Following the play, Sanders remained on the ground, prompting medical staffers to attend to him before ultimately putting Sanders on a backboard to cart him off the field.

Fortunately, Sanders gave a “thumbs up” as he was being carted off, video shows.

This is an injury that just makes you outright cringe.

Fortunately, Carolina head coach Dave Canales informed CBS that Sanders had movement in all extremities and was taken to a local hospital. He received a concussion diagnosis.

This was definitely one of the scariest injuries we’ve had in recent history — it could have been so much worse.
