Memphis guard Tyrese Hunter scored a total of 26 points, with 17 of them coming in the second half to put his Tigers over the top with a 99-97 overtime victory against back-to-back national champion UConn. From the three-point line, the 5-0 Tigers were mesmerizing, hitting 12 out of their 22 tries from behind the arc, with Hunter in particular hitting seven of his 10 attempts. Adding to Memphisā€™ production was guard PJ Haggerty with 22 points and five assists, while guard Colby Rogers contributed 19 points and forward Dain Dainja put up 14.

Heading into the game, UConn had 17 straight victories on their resume dating back to February 2024, with that streak now being cleared out.
