We’re living in an era of awful spin-offs, remakes and reboots. Whether it’s woke writing, excessive CGI or just a plodding insult to the original, Hollywood seems to get off on taking movies we all love from the past and destroying them. So as a big fan of the original, I had very little hope heading into “Gladiator II.” That said, I left pleasantly surprised, and that bodes pretty well for the future of all-American filmmaking.
