Singer and songwriter Muni Long shared a video clip on Instagram declaring her refusal to empower “non-melanated” artists with her lyrics.
The 36-year-old, whose real name is Priscilla Renea Hamilton, claimed that a high-ranking executive at Atlantic Records requested that she write soul music for non-Black artists, and she made it abundantly clear that she refused to do so. The idea of contributing to white artists seemed to set her off.
“Me to the president of Atlantic asking me to write ‘soulful’ songs for non-melanated artists,” the Grammy-winning star wrote on the video.
“Fuck no! And imma stand on that!” she shouted during the racist rant.
She continued her passionate refusal to create anything that would be used by white artists.
“And they can get in my DM, all you want, every day!” she continued.
Long continued her rant in the caption as she reiterated her position on the matter.
“And when I said NO one of em gone say ‘You can reach in that Priscilla Renea vault and see what you have in there,’” she wrote.
“Boy do you know what a VAULT is? That’s where you keep the valuables,” she wrote on Instagram.
“If you don’t get somewhere and sit down. I wanted to cuss them out so bad ya’ll,” she said.
Other famous artists showed their support for Long and seemed to back her decision, including H.E.R, SZA and Baby Rose.
There was one fan who came forward suggesting it might be worth it for the payout.
“Why not? Get that money and publishing,” the social media wrote.
That prompted a response from Long, who fired back by writing, “Oh baby you must got me confused with somebody else.”
Long topped the charts and became a viral sensation in 2022 with her hit record “Hrs and Hrs.” (RELATED: Actress Mila Kunis Says She Was Raised Jewish, Told Never To Talk About Her Faith)
