Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that he will resign, and he can take his communist sympathies and progressive political lectures with him as he disappears from the political scene.
After nine years at the top of Canada’s government, the bottom had finally fallen out for Trudeau. His approval rating had tanked to 28% in June 2024, and his Liberal Party was projected to lose to the Conservative Party in the coming Canadian elections. Even members of Trudeau’s party had turned on him, culminating in his resignation announcement Monday.
This is all great news for anyone who cares about human rights and freedom around the world. Aside from his domestic faults that Canadians are better equipped to address, Trudeau was a near-stereotypical pushover progressive on the global stage, who lent legitimacy to communists and terrorists and spewed a toxic identitarian worldview that reduced people to members of groups with the goal of dividing them and erasing their identities.
You can see this in Trudeau’s gushing tribute to Cuba’s communist Castro brothers after the death of Fidel Castro, which Trudeau called a “deep sorrow.” Trudeau said that the murderous dictator was a “remarkable leader” who “made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation” and was considered a family friend.
Trudeau similarly sided with terrorists throughout his tenure, including his recent promise that he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he visited Canada based on the fabricated war crimes that the antisemites at the International Criminal Court charged him with. Trudeau sided himself with Palestinian propaganda even immediately after Palestinian terrorists murdered 1,200 Israeli civilians. He has also refused to list Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.

Through it all, Trudeau’s identity politics worldview has only served to divide people. In 2021, Trudeau whipped up anti-Catholic sentiments based on claims that mass graves of Indigenous children at former Catholic schools were discovered. Catholic churches were burned down and the pope was extorted for an apology, and yet there have still been no remains discovered three years later. Trudeau closed out his tenure lecturing Americans for not electing a woman as president because the status of “oppressed” groups is all that matters in his identitarian world.
Trudeau’s embarrassing departure from office is a win for America on the world stage. It is a win for anyone who believes that murderous communist dictators are not “remarkable leaders” and anyone who thinks that the Western world should collaborate with antisemitic global institutions to push terrorist propaganda. It is also a win for those who believe individuals and meritocracy matter. Good riddance to Trudeau — may our northern neighbor never produce a “leader” like him again.
