President Donald Trump will sign a day one executive order mandating that the federal government recognize two sexes, male and female, according to incoming White House officials. Trump will also sign an executive order eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
The incoming Trump administration will also not accept the Biden administration’s rewriting of Title IX. The Biden administration tried to redefine the law, which prohibits gender discrimination on the basis of sex, to change the meaning of “sex” to “gender identity.”
A federal district court in Kentucky blocked the Biden administration’s order in early January.
Trump’s order, according to White House officials, is intended to protect the “privacy, dignity, and safety,” of women. It will maintain sex segregation in prisons and other intimate spaces like rape shelters.
Trump’s executive order will also prevent federal funding from being used for gender transitions.
On DEI, the administration will use Title VII of the Civil Rights Act to ensure that employees of the federal government are not discriminated against in hiring on the basis of race.
This is a breaking news story that will be updated.
