This honestly makes me want to never eat ravioli again.
The 2025 season is underway for the PGA Tour, but superstar Scottie Scheffler hasn’t made his debut yet after he suffered a right hand injury on Christmas that forced him to have surgery. Slated to miss yet another tournament in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, the No. 1 golfer in the world has finally given us an update and more information about what happened.
Blake Smith, the manager of Scheffler, released a statement not long after the incident saying that broken glass caused the golf star to have a puncture wound.
“On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass,” said Smith. “Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery.” (RELATED: PGA Tour Relocating Genesis Tournament From Riviera Country Club Amid Los Angeles Fires)
From there, a lot of us have had the question of, “how exactly did he get glass pieces stuck in his hand?”
Come to find out, he did it while he was cooking up homemade ravioli. Scheffler admitted to what happened while speaking to the media for the first time since suffering his injury. From the sound of it, he must have messed up his hand while shaping the ravioli, which would make sense.
As for the future, Scheffler didn’t commit to playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but the chances of it happening are pretty damn good — we’ll take it!
“Feeling good, everything went well with the surgery,” stated Scheffler, per the PGA Tour. “Body feels pretty good. Still making decisions on schedule going forward. Should know next few days to a week whether I’ll be playing next week. Everything’s on schedule.”
