Yeah … this one is gonna hurt in the morning.
Thursday night’s 4 Nations Face-Off championship between the United States and Canada brought us an absolute thriller, an overtime one at that, but unfortunately it was Canada who walked away with the 3-2 win and the title.
Canada center Nathan MacKinnon got the scoring started in the game, putting the Canadians on the board first with a 1-0 lead. However, later in the first period, United States left wing Brady Tkachuk tied things up with a goal at the 16:52 mark. When we got to the second period, it looked like the Americans were about to take control after United States defenseman Jake Sanderson scored to give the Americans a 2-1 advantage. But eventually, Canada came marching back, as Canadian center Sam Bennett put us at a 2-2 stalemate.
The third period brought no scoring, which eventually took the game into overtime to ratchet up the tension. From there, it was anybody’s game. But some say the best player in the world, Connor McDavid, managed to get the Canadians over the top with a game-clinching goal.

It’s kinda cool that we lost to our 51st state … in a way, this championship is America’s. I’ll rock with that.
