It’s a damn shame this couldn’t happen while Pete was alive, but we’ll take it!
President Donald Trump is planning on issuing “a complete PARDON of Pete Rose,” the career hits leader in baseball who was ultimately banned from both MLB and the Hall of Fame over sports gambling.
Taking to social media Friday night, Trump posted that Rose “shouldn’t have been gambling on baseball, but only bet on HIS TEAM WINNING.” Rose died in September 2024 at 83 years old. (RELATED: Crowd Explodes After Riley Gaines Gives President Trump Shoutout In Pre-Race Prayer)
Trump didn’t go into the tax case that surrounded Rose, to which he pled guilty back in 1990 to filing false tax returns — two counts, to be exact. Rose spent five months in prison.
President Trump stated that a pardon would be signed for Rose “over the next few weeks.”
Rose received a permanent ban from MLB in 1989 following an investigation that came to the conclusion that he gambled on games from 1985-87 that featured Cincinnati Reds contests. He bet while serving as both a player and manager of the franchise.

I can tell Trump has baseball fever — the timing of this entire situation tells us that, and hell, I’m right there with the president. I mean, damn, I’m sitting here waiting for a spring training game (Braves vs. Rays) in excitement.
Beautiful times on the horizon, baseball is here! Long live Pete Rose!
