President Donald Trump has only been in office for a month, yet he’s already decisively fulfilled many of his campaign promises. Two of his top priorities, signing executive orders that tear down the citadels of radical gender ideology and critical race theory implanted within the federal government, have been met with screaming opposition from the LGBT Left and liberal media.
As the interim executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans, the nation’s largest organization representing LGBT conservatives, I and other gay Trump supporters have been disdainfully mocked by liberals who righteously ask, “See? Told you. Is this what you voted for?”
The answer is yes, it is. I urge them to get their heads out of the sand and take a quick reality check. Trump is not “targeting” our community. He’s leading a massive course correction to reverse the radical and insane excesses that extremist, gender-obsessed elements of the Left have quietly and quickly imposed upon our government and our country, yielding no results while fostering more division.
He campaigned on this during the election, and we can’t wait to see more.
Last month, Trump signed an executive order prohibiting biological men from competing in women’s sports, restoring fairness in athletics and protecting the opportunities for girls and women that come with it.
This isn’t remotely controversial, nor is it “anti-gay.” A recent poll found that nearly 80% of Americans, the vast majority of both parties and both genders, oppose biological men competing in women’s sports. Consider that this wasn’t even a problem until the radical gender-obsessed Left within the Biden administration quietly attempted to destroy Title IX by taking the concept of biological gender out of the landmark law altogether and codifying men competing against women as the new norm.
They even went as far as threatening to pull funding for schools’ lunch programs if they did not comply with their ideology. Yet they have the gall to accuse conservatives of being the radical, extreme ones. The hypocrisy is astounding.
The president’s executive order restores Title IX to how it was just a few years ago, enforcing it accordingly… and that somehow makes him the most anti-gay president in history? Gay conservatives have long held that inclusion for transgender Americans does not and cannot come at the expense of women, who have fought to secure their opportunities in athletics for the last fifty years.
Another one of Trump’s priorities that has drawn the ire of the radical Left is his recent order stopping the government from promoting life-altering sex-change surgeries and drugs on children, another dangerous tenet of the radical gender ideology pantheon that has taken root within the U.S. government.
Radicals within the Biden administration quietly threw the government’s weight to bully health organizations to drop age minimums from their sex change surgery guidelines, all for political reasons.
Again, this is not controversial. Another recent poll found that nearly 70% of Americans opposed access to puberty-blocking medication for children, a common-sense initiative that protects impressionable and vulnerable young people from taking irreversible medical steps they are not prepared to make. Yet it’s only necessary because gender-obsessed ideologues on the Left have been insidiously pushing their unpopular and unneeded crusade under the auspices of the federal government.
These orders are major policy moves, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg. Trump recently ordered federal employees to remove their “preferred pronouns,” another canon of the radical gender-obsessed Left, from their government email signatures. He is rooting diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, which entrench the Left’s brand of identity politics within the bureaucracy while ignoring merit, out from Washington. He is calling out bizarre foreign aid initiatives that support transgender cultural projects around the world that advance the Left’s gender agenda while serving no clear purpose for U.S. foreign policy.
All of this is part of Trump’s massive course correction away from the chaotic and divisive agenda foisted upon our country by the Left and back to the common-sense mainstream that was, until just a few years ago, the norm that benefited all Americans, including the gay community.
The federal government cannot and should not be in the business of promoting gender ideology in all aspects of life. Support for LGBT rights, which recently hit all-time highs, has since dipped thanks to the Left’s excessive and radical crusade.

Even elected Democrats, knowing their party has been hijacked by “pronoun police,” have sensed the wind shift, keeping their criticism of Trump’s above orders and actions unusually muted. Yet their recent DNC meeting, which exposed activists’ bizarre rules around “gender balancing” and other identity politics grievances, is a reminder of how entrenched these extreme ideologies have become within their party.
Ironically, the only result they’ve achieved is Trump’s reelection. He is taking swift action to bring America back to normal. He’s just getting started. Fair-minded Americans, especially LGBT conservatives, are standing with him.
