Mariah Carey flexed her diva status with an incredibly self-absorbed appearance at Monday’s iHeartRadio Music Awards.

The famous singer was honored with the prestigious Icon Award and delivered an instantly viral moment as soon as she took the stage to deliver her acceptance speech. Ensuring the spotlight was firmly fixed on her, Carey slowly walked to the microphone, aided by several men that carefully guided her every step. She took her time soaking in the applause, and adjusted her hair and gown before she kicked off her speech. “Is the lighting OK cause I don’t like bad lighting,” she said, drawing on her infamous reputation for being obsessed with her appearance. Carey then launched into a series of cringey, egotistical behaviors that made it even easier to dislike her.

Production crews seemingly scrambled to adjust the lighting after Carey’s arrogant comment.

Carey twirled slowly, ensuring the cameras and star-studded audience took in every angle of her shimmering gown.

“Ok… do you like the ensemble?” she said.

Carey batted her eyelashes and put both her hands out in a diva-like gesture. Her jewelry sparkled under the special lighting she had demanded for herself.

Those that thought the singer could muster up a few gracious words during her speech were sadly mistaken.

Carey continued telling the world how highly she regarded herself and basked in the glory of being center stage with a captive audience.

“As a kid I used to listen to my favorite artists on the radio and dream of being on the airwaves myself,” she said.

“Now, for those of you who may not know what airwaves are, think of it as the non-wifi of streaming.”

Carey really went for it with the next selfish statement.

“Even now I still get excited when I hear one of my songs playing on the radio. It never stops being magical,” she said. (RELATED: Scarlett Johansson Slams Fans In Outwardly Arrogant Statement)

Mariah Carey’s diva persona was in full force before she even hit the stage. As Tori Kelly and Muni Long honored her with a medley of her greatest hits, cameras panned to Carey’s unimpressed expression. She sat stone-faced, and threw side-eye. The internet wasted no time turning her unimpressed expressions into viral memes.
