You know a movie is a disaster when even die-hard Disney fans and Hollywood optimists tear it apart.

Reporters and media outlets agree that “Snow White” is an epic waste of time and money — both for audiences and the poor suckers that dropped more than $250 million to produce this flop. There are always a few critics who try to find a silver lining, but this time, the real entertainment comes from seeing who roasted Snow White the hardest. BBC film critic Nicholas Barber called it an “identity crisis,” HuffPost guest writer Sarah Hunter Simanson dubbed it a “strange, hot mess” and film critic Jake Coyle of The Associated Press (AP) barely scraped together two stars out of four. From where I’m standing, Snow White has officially emerged as the movie everyone loves to hate.

There’s so much to dislike about this film that it’s tough to isolate precisely where Disney went wrong.

Barber roasted the CGI dwarfs in the film by calling them “creepy” March 19 for the BBC. Simanson called the CGI elements “weird” before noting they found the “dwarfs’ humanless eyes and unnatural movements to be unsettling.”

“It seems as if some of the producers wanted to make an old-fashioned tribute to a feudal fairy tale, and the others wanted to make a revisionist, Marxist call-to-arms,” Barber wrote.

“Rather than settling on one option or the other, the producers apparently compromised by making both versions at once, so the results are like a mind-boggling mash-up of two different films.”

He went on to say “the producers should have picked a lane and stayed in it.”

Vanity Fair chief critic Richard Lawson torched the movie March 21 by saying, “The message of Snow White is perhaps a bit hurried and muddled, and awkwardly grafted onto a very basic fairytale princess template.”

Barber laced into the film’s content by saying, “This has to be the closest a Disney princess film has got to paraphrasing The Communist Manifesto.”

Huffpost’s Simanson couldn’t get behind any part of the movie. “It’s the way the plot was executed, the way the creative pieces are combined to make something that just feels off,” the reviewer wrote.

The review singled out Gal Gadot, who played the Evil Queen in the film, calling her musical performance “uneven” and making fun of her villain song “All Is Fair” as “stilted and awkwardly choreographed.”

The AP’s Coyle said the film “can’t quite thread the needle” and denounced Disney for casting Rachel Zegler as the titular character.

Kevin Maher, a chief film critic from The Times, boldly declared that “Disney has trashed its crown jewel and its reputation” before cautioning those determined to subject themselves to the movie to “bring a sick bag.”

“It’s hard not to see this as anything other than a crisis point for Disney, a studio that used to make flawless cinematic stories but now infantilises global audiences with sanctimonious life lessons culled from the corpses of their own murdered movies,” Maher wrote in his March 19 review of the film

The savage reviews aren’t the only issues plaguing the film. Zegler and Gadot vocally supported different sides of the Israel-Hamas war, making their interactions awkward and divided.

The casting of a Latina as “Snow White” was a big point of contention for many who felt the classic fairytale should stay true to its original form. The woke storyline leaned so far left that it basically tipped right over and the casting of real actors with dwarfism in the dwarf roles wasn’t Disney’s top priority, which caused an uproar. Disney fumbled this from the start and doubled down on disaster with every decision they made. The one thing I can credit them for is their consistency. They showed a relentless commitment to the film’s failure with every choice they made and really stuck to it.
