What the heck is this?

2024 was a disastrous season for the Chicago White Sox and, here in 2025, things aren’t getting any better.

Sunday’s game between the White Sox and Los Angeles Angels was slapped with a delay when Rate Field was hit with a downpour of rain and hail during the seventh inning. Not much longer afterward, the wind started blowing in — they don’t call it the “Windy City” for nothing! Well, the White Sox grounds crew seemingly had no idea this weather was coming, because they appeared to be completely caught off guard when everything popped off.

While the crew ran across the field to lay out the tarp, they couldn’t cover the entire infield due to the weight of the rain. After making it halfway across, the tarp ended up getting stuck, forcing the crew to get ahold of anything in sight to make sure the rest of the infield was protected.

You can watch the video of the wild scene here.

And being an absolutely embarrassing look for a Major League Baseball team, social media absolutely drilled the White Sox for it:

The White Sox organization can’t seem to catch a dang break.
