Patty Gasso ain’t playin’ the woke nonsense.
Players of Oklahoma Sooners Softball recently showed up and listened to a campus talk from conservative superstar Riley Gaines regarding biological males in female sports.
There’s absolutely nothing scandalous about that, but a student reporter tried to make the situation into one. But thank God for OU head coach Patty Gasso, she’s not on that politically correct silliness.
Turning Point USA, the chapter of Oklahoma to be more exact, brought Gaines to the OU campus where she gave both a speech and Q&A session involving trans athletes being involved in women’s athletics. Sure, you had a protest here and there for the event, but it was a successful one with several female student-athletes showing up from the softball, golf, soccer, track and rowing teams. A couple of days following Gaines’ campus visit, a reporter from OU Daily Sports mentioned to Gasso during a post-game presser that several softball players showed up for Gaines’ talk.
And Gasso, well, she was nothing but supportive of her players.
“I did not hear (Gaines’) comments, so I can’t comment on something I didn’t hear, but the fact that our team is there, it’s their right whether they want to go or not,” said Gasso. “I support them in whatever they choose.”
