Katy Perry, Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez were among a group of women who embarked Monday on a shockingly underwhelming trip to space.

The high-profile launch saw the celebrity crew don glitzy, ultra-feminine outfits and quite literally leave Earth. Despite the hype, however, the mission fell short of expectations. For one, the entire trip lasted just 11 minutes. And for fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the adventure, the experience inside the rocket wasn’t even broadcast, leaving many wondering what the point of this much-anticipated event really was.

Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin launch was broadcast live but showed generic footage which was far from the breathtaking adventure it was made out to be. The all-female space flight was over in 11 minutes, and the famous faces inside the vessel were only actually in what is internationally recognized as space for a total of four minutes.

Perry made history by becoming the first pop star to go to space. She reportedly sang in space while aboard the vessel … but that moment was somehow not captured on camera or released for the world to see.

Instead of giving fans something to talk about, they simply talked about what happened.

Gayle King appeared in front of the cameras upon her return and told reporters Perry sang a song. “When we got back in our seats after Zero-G, Katy sang ‘What a Wonderful World,’” King said in a video shared on X.

Someone needs to explain why they decided not to air the footage of Perry belting out a tune while in space — that would be more interesting than watching a rocket disappear into the clouds.

Sadly, when summing up this space flight, it seems the most dramatic moments actually happened on the ground.

There’s a whole lot of footage showing Oprah was brought to tears while watching her friend embark on the space flight. Her made-for-Hollywood facial expressions were apparently more entertaining than the generic rocket footage.

When Perry returned from the ridiculously short trip to space — which quickly drew skepticism over the lack of interior footage — she fell to her knees and kissed the ground, finally giving the cameras something to grab an image of.

We’ve all seen Perry walking on earth — this wasn’t the footage most of us were hoping for.

Bezos’s fiancé likewise failed to entertain with her footage of this supposedly-amazing experience. Instead of capturing the trip to space with her famous girl-club, she shared a video of the ladies inside the simulator on an Instagram Story which will automatically disappear from other users in 24 hours unless saved.

If this space mission was intended to promote the sale of future flights, it’s a definite flop. (RELATED: Former Astronaut Grows Visibly Triggered When CBS Reporter Simply Uses Term ‘Mankind’)

Producer Kerianne Flynn and scientists Aisha Bowe and Amanda Nguyễn were among the other women aboard the space mission which miserably failed to entertain.
