This is fantastic! Let’s get this man elected, Arizona!
Jay Feely, a kicking legend in the NFL, has put in his resignation notice to CBS where he currently works as an analyst, doing so as he officially announced his campaign to run for United States Congress.
Informing ESPN of his plans Tuesday, Feely said that he intends on running for the U.S. House of Representatives where, if elected, he would serve the 5th Congressional District in Arizona. He is planning on running in the 2026 midterm election. A statement of interest has already been filed with the Arizona Secretary of State by Feely, which is required in the state to launch a political campaign.
“I’m excited about this next chapter of my life,” said Feely to ESPN. “I think that I feel God’s calling pressing me into service, and that’s really what I believe it is, is the civil service. I don’t believe we have enough politicians that get into political office not for self-serving measures and that get into political office and don’t want it to be a career, and that’s what I believe. “I believe it is very much a civil service.”
Currently 48 years old, Feely is trying to win the seat that Representative Andy Biggs vacated so he could run for Arizona governor. That election is also set to take place in 2026.
Feely played in the NFL for 14 years and suited up for six teams, most notably the Arizona Cardinals.
I’m excited to announce my candidacy for U.S. Congress in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District.
I look forward to earning your vote 🇺🇸https://t.co/ghYLMzcHXF#TeamFeely pic.twitter.com/XayfhtGPkb
