“Law & Order” actress Sophie Nyweide’s death certificate reportedly indicated the 24-year-old actress was pregnant at the time of her passing on April 14.

Authorities declared Nyweide dead just before 5 a.m. in Bennington, Vermont, after being found on a riverbank, according to TMZ. Sources said she was with a man at the time of her death, though the individual is cooperating with police and is not viewed as a person of interest. Police are reportedly investigating Nyweide’s death as a potential accidental overdose but have not ruled out foul play.

Officials have conducted an autopsy on Nyweide’s remains but her actual cause of death has not been revealed, according to TMZ.

The young star’s mother, Shelly, told the outlet that she was aware that her daughter was taking drugs and noted that she was very small in stature. She said other individuals were present when Nyweid died but claimed she did not personally know them.

Shelly said her daughter was a passionate actress who thoroughly enjoyed her job. She said Nyweide’s experience in the spotlight was a positive one, and claimed she was not subjected to the hardships or hurtful interactions other child actors were exposed to as they developed their careers, according to TMZ.

Nyweide starred in the shows “And Then Came Love” and “Margot at the Wedding.” She also starred in films, including “Mammoth” and “Bella,” and performed opposite Russell Crowe in “Noah.”

“It was a safe place for her and she relish from the casts and crews who nourished her talent and her well being,” they wrote. “She was an eager adventurer and picked up the customs and even languages of any place she visited.”

A memorial service is being planned to honor the beloved star.
