Another Maryland Woman Dead, With 2 Illegals Charged in Killing Another Maryland Woman Dead, With 2 Illegals Charged in Killing

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced this week it had arrested a Guatemalan illegal alien, Keycy Robinson Alexis Barrera-Rosa, 24, and charged him in the killing of his girlfriend in Maryland.

According to authorities, Barrera-Rosa killed Lesbia Mileth Ramirez Guerra, 23, of Waldorf, and then buried her body near Cedarville State Forest, where it was found on April 17. Berrera-Rosa’s uncle, Rolvin Eduardo Bererra-Bererra, 37, told authorities in recorded testimony that he had helped his nephew bury the body of Guerra, who was the mother of two.

The victim was last seen March 31 and was reported missing April 2.

Both men are in custody. Bererra-Bererra, who has been charged with accessory after the fact of murder and altering physical evidence, is also unlawfully in the U.S.

The charges against the two illegal aliens from Guatemala come as the Trump administration is seeking to ramp up and expedite deportation of illegal immigrants who commit crimes in the U.S.

News of the latest crime comes on the heels of criticism of a highly publicized excursion to El Salvador by Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., last week in a bid to secure the release of another illegal alien who had been living in Maryland before being deported by the Trump administration to his native El Salvador. Van Hollen was criticized by some for appearing to be more solicitous of an illegal alien than of Marylanders who had fallen victim to crimes perpetrated by those in the country and in the state illegally.

Perhaps mindful of that, reacting Thursday to the killing of Guerra, Van Hollen told The Daily Signal, “I cannot imagine the grief and pain that the family of Ms. Guerra is feeling right now. My heart goes out to them during this incredibly difficult time as they mourn her loss. I thank all of those in law enforcement who have been part of the extensive search effort and investigation.”

Maryland’s senior senator added: “Now, Ms. Guerra’s family and friends, and our community, will see her suspected killer and anyone involved in this crime face justice in a court of law. Courts of law are where we punish the guilty and provide for the due process rights of all. That is why it is important to respect the rule of law and the decisions of our courts.”

Van Hollen and other Democrat lawmakers have objected to the Trump administration’s deportation of accused MS-13 gang member Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien who was deported to his home country of El Salvador in March.

The Maryland lawmaker visited Abrego Garcia last week and attempted to persuade the El Salvadoran government to send him back to the United States. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele rejected the idea that he would let the accused member of MS-13 return to the U.S.

“Can I smuggle him into the United States, or what do I do? Of course, I’m not going to do it. The question is preposterous,” the president told reporters last week while visiting President Donald Trump at the White House.

Following Van Hollen’s lead, at least four other Democrat members of Congress—Democrat Reps. Maxwell Frost of Florida, Robert Garcia of California, Yassamin Ansari of Arizona, and Maxine Dexter of Oregon—traveled to El Salvador in a bid, albeit unsuccessfully, to meet with Abrego Garcia.

The Daily Signal reached out to the offices of those House members, but they did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Van Hollen was specifically criticized by a fellow member of Congress from Maryland for seemingly prioritizing Abrego Garcia over another Maryland family victimized by an illegal immigrant, also from El Salvador.

“The most striking double standard is that Rachel Morin, who was a constituent of mine, was brutally murdered by an illegal alien from El Salvador, and Chris Van Hollen is not spending time on that issue, but he’s taking time to go to El Salvador to bring back a citizen of El Salvador to the United States who had entered the country illegally,” Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., told The Daily Signal at the time.

Patty Morin, the mother of Rachel Morin, a Maryland mom of five who was raped and murdered by an illegal alien while she was out on a hike in August 2023, explained her concerns to reporters at the White House on April 16.

“Why are we not protecting the American citizens? It’s just common sense. Why are we not protecting our children?” Morin asked.

Two days earlier, a jury in Harford County, Maryland, had convicted Victor Martinez-Hernandez, 24, of first-degree premeditated murder, first-degree rape, third-degree sexual assault and kidnapping in Rachel Morin’s death.
