I know who I’m slappin’ a bet on!
Render Judgment, a horse that’s owned by late country music legend Toby Keith, is running in the 151st version of the Kentucky Derby.
It was announced Saturday night on the social media accounts of Keith.
“It was Toby’s dream….Render Judgement is going to the @kentuckyderby,” read the post. “He worked so hard to finally have one there! Toby will have the best seat in the house to watch.” (RELATED: ‘I Belong To Jesus’: Cody Gakpo Has One Of Most Glorious Goal Celebrations En Route To Winning Premier League Title)
Passing away from stomach cancer at 62 years old in 2024, Keith was known for being a legendary force in country music and a hardcore American patriot, but he also loved horses.
Keith owned several thoroughbred racehorses, breeding them through his Oklahoma-based Dream Walkin’ Farms, founding the establishment back in 2001. Since that time, the entity has tallied a whopping 848 wins and more than $18 million in earnings, this coming in 6,587 races.
“He was a guy who loved horse racing, all facets of it,” said a Keith trainer, Brett Calhoun, while speaking in 2024 with the Sun Gabriel Valley Tribune. “He loved the breeding part of it, the racing, and he was a big promoter of horse racing. Just an overall good guy. A patriotic guy. He was one of those guys that everyone wanted to be around and he kind of kept himself open to the public. He’d go to the races at Oaklawn, go across the street to the local bar and hang out with the people.”
