The GOP ain’t playing around!
It’s not clear on when, but Nike allegedly assisted in funding a study on “gender-affirming” care and the effect that it has on male athletes in their youth. They allegedly did so to figure out whether or not males could be impaired to a level where they could compete in female sports “safely” and “fairly.”
Nike has already spoken out on the topic, telling OutKick that the puberty blocker study “was never initialized” and “is not moving forward.” With that being said, it’s unknown when the corporate giant made these moves. Nike declined to give any extra information, doing so despite the study’s top two researchers already saying publicly that the brand was providing funding. The head researcher of the study is Dr. Kathryn Ackerman, while the secondary researcher is Joanna Harper, a man who identifies as a woman.
OutKick contacted several politicians for comment on their views on the alleged funding from Nike, affecting children that hit as young as 12.
“Under no circumstances should any company or organization subsidize a study that green lights experimenting on children and giving them life-altering medications, hormones, and surgeries,” Republican Tennessee Sen. “Didn’t Nike get the memo? 77 million Americans sent a simple message on November 5th: boys are boys and girls are girls,” Republican Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville said. “Americans are sick and tired of Democrats’ attempts to erase women and to deny truths that have been universally acknowledged for thousands of years. Liberal companies like Nike would be well served to realize that the woke mind virus does nothing but alienate half of their customers.”
Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz didn’t issue OutKick a statement. Instead, his team led them to what he recently said on the issue, doing so on a podcast.
“I don’t know that there is an issue that is more out of the mainstream and yet more required by elected Democrats than demanding that men compete against and in women’s sports and boys compete in girls’ sports,” stated Cruz. “What is amazing is, even though the left is so far out of step, Nike’s continuing to double down and fund this extreme research.”
And get this … all of the Democrats that OutKick contacted … NONE of them answered back, because of course they didn’t.
