Scary moment out of Philly.
The game Wednesday between the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies was interrupted during the pre-game festivities when a Nats staffer suddenly suffered a medical emergency.
The Washington staffer was assisting batters while they were having batting practice at Citizens Bank Park (CBP) prior to suddenly collapsing. He had to be taken off the field on a stretcher.
It happened around 90 minutes prior to first pitch. Per a report from The Athletic, both players and coaches had clear concern after the staffer collapsed. (RELATED: MLB Fan Falls From Stands Right Into Ground In Terrifying Scene During Cubs-Pirates Game)
From Philadelphia’s dugout, medical staffers ran over, with both teams’ personnel helping out the Washington staff.
Due to the situation, each club nixed their pre-game warmups. The game went on at 6:45 p.m. ET.
The Phillies have won the first two games of the three-game series.
