What an awesome story!

A mother experienced one of the worst things imaginable, but fortunately for her, it turned into one of the best things imaginable when another mother, a complete and utter stranger, saved the life of her son.

Evan Tucker, 15, absolutely loves baseball and can’t get on the field enough.

“He’s tried other sports, football, basketball, but has always landed on baseball,” stated Samantha Tucker, the mom of Evan. “It’s always been interesting for him and he has a lot of fun doing it.”

Evan recently finished up his freshman season with the baseball team of Pinson Valley High School, and when the campaign was over, he wanted to play travel ball.

When Easter weekend got here, time for tryouts had arrived. However, at one point while drills were happening, the unexpected took place.

“I guess I had thought he has got hit by a ball,” Evan’s mother said. “I jumped up and I heard somebody say ‘he’s having a seizure,’ so I took off running.”

But it wasn’t a seizure that Evan was having, he was instead suffering from cardiac arrest, with his heart coming to a stop. (RELATED: Ohio High School Lacrosse Player Dead After Suffering Freak Injury During Game: REPORT)

“It was sheer panic, like shock actually,” said his mom. “I didn’t know what to do I just kept talking to him.”

But thank the good Lord, a stranger rushed to the outfield where Evan was at and saw that he was turning blue. That’s when she began performing CPR on Evan.

“I learned CPR in high school when I was 17 and I’ve never had to use it in 40 years,” Johnette Wilmot said.

Wilmot happened to be there because of her 11-year-old, Phoenix, trying out for the baseball team. She performed CPR on Evan for nearly eight minutes before an ambulance came to the scene.

When Evan arrived to a Children’s Hospital, he was shocked due to the condition of his heart. For several days, Evan was placed in a coma.

Fortunately though, Evan has been improving while still in recovery at the hospital. He will undergo inpatient rehab. Since the incident, Evan has been able to walk without assistance, as well as talk again, with the improvements still coming.

And it’s all thanks to Evan’s angel in the outfield who knew CPR.

What a remarkable story … wow.
