Cincinnati Reds Make Thoroughbred Power Move By Hiring Terry Francona As Manager: REPORT Cincinnati Reds Make Thoroughbred Power Move By Hiring Terry Francona As Manager: REPORT

I see you, Cincy. I see you.

Terry Francona, a high-profile manager who will certainly be in the Hall of Fame one day, is coming out of retirement to become the next manager of the Cincinnati Reds, according to a report Thursday night from ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The move comes exactly one year to the day that he announced his retirement after 23 years in MLB.

Francona, who is 65 years old, will become the next manager of a Reds team that is widely considered young and talented. His previous gig was with the Cleveland Guardians, managing the team for 11 seasons. He won almost 55% of his contests with the Guardians, which came after he won two World Series championship rings with the Boston Red Sox. Most notably, Francona led Boston to the title in 2004 that broke the 86-year “Curse of the Bambino.” (RELATED: ‘Amazin’ Mets Pull Off Magical Comeback, Advance To NLDS After Absolutely Clutch Bomb From Pete Alonso)

The health of Francona has struck concerns over the past few years due to him having to miss time, and despite his success, questions started to circle around him if he actually wanted to continue being a manager.

“I need to go home and get healthy and see what I miss about the game. I don’t foresee managing again,” said Francona in Oct. 2023 when he resigned from the Guardians.

But screw those dark clouds! Terry Francona is back!
