Actor Jonathan Majors spoke out for the very first time since being convicted of assaulting and harassing his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.
In a March 14 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Majors said he was able to reflect after being sentenced in 2024 to probation and a 52-week domestic violence intervention program. He said he confronted serious childhood trauma head-on.
Majors’ star was on the rise in Hollywood just prior to his arrest in March 2023. He was fresh off the success of the Warner Bros. box office hit “Creed III,” Marvel movie “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” and had snagged an Emmy nomination for the HBO series “Lovecraft Country.” He was cast as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new villain, Kang the Conqueror in 2026’s “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” when he was dropped by his manager and publicity firm and fired from his job.

“There were days when it was like, ‘Is this real?’” he told the publication.
“It’s a heartbreak like I’ve never experienced and it just compounded and compounded,” Majors said, as he described his experience in the emotional interview.
The actor admitted the aftermath of the trial enabled him to address childhood sexual abuse he hadn’t confronted before, that he said led to depression as an adult.
“I dealt with sexual abuse from both men and women from the time I was 9,” Majors said.
“From people who are supposed to look after you, in the absence of a father. I was fucked up,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
The actor said he has been able to heal family wounds, and said his mother apologized for not being able to protect him.
“I’m like, ‘It’s not even an issue, mom. I just want you to know. And now we can all get busy and continue to connect and grow and learn from it, because it’s something that was in our family.’”
Majors is turning a new leaf, with a new perspective, and is attempting to rebuild his life and career.
“At some point there has to be accountability for writing your own story,” he said.
“Am I going to fall into that narrative of falling apart, of self-destruction? Have a struggle, blame the world. Have a struggle, hate yourself. Have a struggle, deny everything. None of those narratives is beneficial,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Instead, he is fostering a new thought process, “have a struggle, learn, metabolize, grow,” he said.
After processing the abuse in his relationship with Jabbari, Majors said he has gained knowledge about his behavior. (RELATED: Jonathan Majors’ Ex-Girlfriend Drops Infamous Lawsuit: REPORT)

“There are no excuses, but by getting help, you begin to understand things about yourself,” he said.
