The boos should’ve been louder, America! The boos should’ve been louder!
As I write this, the 4 Nations Face-Off championship between the United States and Canada is early in the game with a 1-0 score in favor of the Canadians. With that being said though, this blog isn’t about the game, it’s about what took place before it.
Ahead of the game, both nations had their national anthems played, with Canada’s being performed first. Well, heading into the contest, there was a lot of anticipation about whether or not Americans would respond to Canadians booing “The Star-Spangled Banner”with their own boo birds. When we finally got to the Canadian national anthem, yeah, there were some boos, but nothing like what myself and other Americans wanted. It was quite mixed, and disappointing as an American to be honest with you.
However, Americans did recover with absolutely glorious “USA” chants right after the Canadian national anthem was performed. And I mean, right after. It was a beautiful slap to that dumb little maple leaf!
But still, our boos could’ve been louder.
You deserved boos Canada but you got respect and USA chants AFTER YOUR national anthem. Maybe next time don’t take out your hatred of our government on the citizens and fans.
