Over $45 million went to project proposals that mention restorative practices or social-emotional learning, according to the report, while over $32 million went to proposals directly tied to DEI. Additionally, almost $20 million went to consultants proposing concepts such as critical race theory, critical gender theory, and queer theory, and over $10 million went to DEI-related hiring proposals.

“To say that the Biden Administration spent money on DEI programs like drunken sailors is an insult to sailors,” Nicole Neily, Parents Defending Education’s president and founder, told the Washington Examiner

“As a result of this fiscal incontinence, the American people are now dealing with the after-effects of out-of-control inflation — and to add insult to injury, these programs completely failed to improve student outcomes,” she added. “Any federal bureaucrat who approved these grants should be frog-marched out of the Department on Day One.”

Of the 36 states that received these grants, the five that Biden’s DOJ spent most on were New York (with $10,430,164), California (with $8,962,602), Pennsylvania (with $8,456,503), Oregon (with $4,999,993), and Georgia (with $4,993,974).

According to the PDE report, many of the projects funded by the Justice Department during Biden’s presidential term explicitly involved improving the school climate for non-white people and the “LGBTQIA+ community,” while others focused on “anti-racism” and “racial equity.”

The report released on Thursday comes less than a month after PDE revealed Biden’s Education Department spent over $1 billion on DEI-related grants during his term.
