Under normal circumstances, widespread reports of drones flying over the mid-Atlantic region would cause concern. Small, unmanned, flying objects hovering over cities in one of the most densely populated areas in the country raise many red flags. However, the fact that the Biden administration is seemingly clueless about who or what is behind the apparent drone invasion is arguably even more alarming.
It’s a sign of gross incompetence, negligence, or an outright dereliction of duty. Unfortunately, with the Biden administration, one can never tell which it is.
The Pentagon addressed the matter yesterday with a statement that raised more questions than provided answers. A spokesperson was unable to offer any insight or information about the drones, which, ultimately, is a sign of our national security’s massive vulnerabilities. The only thing the Pentagon could confirm was that the drones were not from the U.S. military — a revelation that is more concerning than reassuring.
“These are not U.S. military drones,” said Sabrina Singh, the Pentagon’s deputy press secretary. “At this time, we have no evidence that these activities are coming from a foreign entity or the work of an adversary.”
Singh did say the drones were not considered a threat to the nation’s military installations in the area.
“If a drone or any activity is a threat to military installations, they always have the right for self-defense, and they can engage to respond to any potential risks,” Singh said. “At no time were our military installations or our people ever under any threat, and if they were, of course, the base commanders have the ability to engage these drones if they do pose a threat.”
Yet, given the recent history of the Biden administration’s leadership, one must seriously wonder whether any government official would be honest with the people if the drones were a threat. After all, this administration was less than candid about a Chinese spy balloon that traveled halfway across the country before the government took action or told the public what it was.
However, this time, even Democrats are challenging President Joe Biden to be more vigilant and transparent. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), a notorious left-wing legislator and ardent Democrat supporter, criticized the Biden administration for a lack of urgency and apparent disinterest in solving the drone mystery, even going so far as to call its apathy “unacceptable.”
“We should be doing some very urgent intelligence analysis and take them out of the skies, especially if they’re flying over airports or military bases,” Blumenthal said. “The Biden administration ought to be acting more aggressively against these drones that have been reported. If only to tell the American people who owns them, who’s flying them, what they are. The lack of information is absolutely unacceptable.”

Perhaps the biggest question is how and why these breaches and security vulnerabilities keep happening, particularly under Biden’s watch. First, there was the aforementioned Chinese spy balloon, and nearly two years later, numerous unidentified drone sightings are happening on the East Coast. Biden has directed this country to spend billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, sending weapons, defense systems, and other defense devices to help a foreign country, yet the United States cannot even protect itself from aerial espionage.
The U.S. is supposed to be the preeminent country in the world with the most advanced technology, military, weapons, and national defense. The presence of these drones and the lack of knowledge of where they are from are truly unacceptable and a national embarrassment. It is the latest sign that the current president is incompetent or dishonest — neither of which is good.
