Over a month passed since the Democratic nominee for president, Kamala Harris, lost to President-elect Donald Trump as the Republican Party also took the majorities in the House and Senate. Political experts are floating their theories for how Democrats lost the popular vote for the first time in 20 years.

TRUMP’S CHALLENGES AND IMPLICATIONS OF ENDING BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP ON DAY ONE

“What’s the priorities of today’s Democratic Party?” Blagojevich said on Jesse Watters Primetime Wednesday. “The Democrats stand for the elites in Hollywood over working people, the illegal migrants over black people, bureaucrats over parents, gang bangers, carjackers, and brazen retail thieves over law-abiding citizens and the police, and trans women over biological women in women sports.”

“And they came up against a guy, Donald Trump, who actually hears the people, who has actually has his priorities set on what’s best for this country and for the people,” he continued. “I think they’re going to have a hard time overcoming this new Trump Republican Party.”

Since 2001, the Democratic party has only lost the popular vote twice: once this most recent cycle, and another time in 2004. As a result the Democratic National Committee will soon elect a new chair.

The change maker in both these popular vote wins for the Republican Party is the Latino voter. The last record Latino turnout for a Republican candidate was when former President George W. Bush swept 44% of the Latino vote in 2004. At the time, they only made up 8% of eligible voters.

This cycle, Trump broke that record with 45% of the Latino vote. Since 2004, the population has only grown more politically active, as they now make up 14% of eligible voters.
