Blue Origin’s all-female space mission on April 14 is facing harsh criticism across social media, with several high-profile figures joining in on the ridicule.
Jeff Bezos’ company sent his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, on the NS-31 mission along with famous singer Katy Perry, Oprah’s best friend and host of “CBS Mornings” Gayle King and others. The history-making, girl-power space expedition ended up making the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Internet users expressed disappointment over the lack of interior footage of the rocket, complaining that they didn’t get to see the reactions of the stars who were launched to space. Famous actress Olivia Wilde publicly trashed the expedition, as did Olivia Munn and model Emily Ratajkowski. Even a major food franchise couldn’t resist taking a dig.
The space mission quickly became the subject of pure mockery as fans wondered what the point of it all really was, especially considering the entire mission lasted around 11 minutes, with just under four of them actually taking place in space. Many were skeptical when they were forced to hear about the stars’ experiences rather than being able to see the footage first-hand.
This opened the floodgates to more scrutiny and dragging.

Ratajkowski unleashed a rant about the space flight in a TikTok video that can be seen here.
“That space mission this morning? That’s end-time shit. Like, this is beyond parody. Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s singlehandedly destroying the planet?” she claimed.
“Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space … For what? What was the marketing there?”
The model continued, “I’m disgusted. Literally, I’m disgusted.”
Olivia Wilde shared a meme of the space crew on her Instagram Story on April 14, showing Perry coming out of the spacecraft and kissing the ground. The meme’s caption read, “Getting off a commercial flight in 2025.”
Wilde added further commentary by writing, “Billion dollars bought some good memes I guess.”
Munn questioned the cost of the space mission and the reason this particular launch was so highlighted when people in the broader community are struggling to be able to afford eggs to feed their families. People across the world have taken to social media to mock the mission with everything form wild memes to blatant criticism about the apparent gluttony of it all.
