Famous singer and co-founder of the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, died at the age of 82.
The beloved star was the driving force behind the Beach Boys, and truly defined the signature sound of the band. The music icon was wildly talented, and he truly had a passion for the music he created over the span of his decades-long career. His loved ones shared the tragic news of his passing Wednesday on the star’s official Instagram page.
“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” they wrote.

“We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving,” his family continued.
Wilson’s music became synonymous with the sound of Californian music and appealed to fans of all ages.
His influence generated hits including, “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” and “Help me Rhonda” — songs that will forever form part of the incredible legacy he left behind.
Wilson’s numerous accolades include nine Grammy Award nominations with the Beach Boys and two Grammy wins for music he created independently.
He was inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 as a member of the Beach Boys, and was recognized by the Kennedy Center Honors in 2007. Wilson earned a Golden Globe nomination in 2016 for writing an original song featured on the soundtrack of the biopic, “Love & Mercy.”
Wilson suffered from dementia in his later years, and was cared for by his family. His death shook the world of entertainment, as fans, fellow musicians and loved ones mourn the passing of one of music’s greatest figures. (RELATED: Sly Stone Dead At 82)
His family closed off the news of his passing by writing, “We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy.”
