Busta Rhymes reportedly turned himself in to police in relation to an alleged assault involving his assistant.
Authorities charged the famous 90s rapper with assault after an alleged altercation in New York City with his assistant, Dashiel Gables, on Jan. 10, according to TMZ. Police sources said Busta Rhymes became upset at Gables for using his phone during work hours while in the lobby of Gables’ condominium in Brooklyn’s downtown. The dispute allegedly took a violent turn when the heated exchange turned physical. The famous singer has been accused of punching Gables in the face several times and causing injuries that required hospitalization.
Sources close to the situation went on to say that Busta Rhymes fled the scene after the alleged assault.
Gables then phoned 911 to obtain assistance and paramedics rushed to the scene to provide immediate care, according to the sources. Gables was taken to a local hospital and initial reports suggested that he was treated for an eye injury, according to TMZ.
Busta Rhymes reportedly turned himself in to the New York Police Department on Tuesday in relation to this incident.
The police handed the famous singer a desk appearance ticket for charges of misdemeanor assault, attempted assault and harassment, TMZ reported. The date on the mandatory court appearance ticket was not publicly shared.
Surveillance video from the building has not surfaced in the media, and it’s unclear if the incident was captured on camera.
