We all saw it coming, and now it’s official.

Rashee Rice, a star wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024 campaign after undergoing LCL surgery Tuesday that was considered successful, according to a report Tuesday from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Though he suffered a season-ending injury, Rice didn’t have any structural damage or tears to each of his ACL, MCL or meniscus. The situation was the best-case scenario given to Rice prior to the surgery. It’s expected that Rice will be completely healed up to start the 2025 season on time.

The LCL injury that Rice suffered has a minimum recovery time of 8-12 weeks, per the Cleveland Clinic. With this being the case, Rice wouldn’t be able to suit up until at least the end of the calendar year. Assuming everything goes well and he doesn’t have any setbacks with his recovery, Rice should be 100% healthy and ready to go for the next campaign.

If you don’t remember, Rice was injured back in September in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers when his quarterback Patrick Mahomes blasted his knee while trying to tackle an opponent that he threw an interception to.

Rough, just rough … see you next year, Rashee!
